As you'll be aware, many NCFE qualifications require candidates to complete an internally assessed and externally moderated portfolio of evidence. This assessment model, known as independent assessment, meant that centres had to carry out a 30% minimum sample for internal moderation.
Since we introduced this model, we've received feedback from you to say that the assessment process is confusing and the 30% sample can be difficult to administer.

QCA AND HAVE AMENDED THE WAY THIS WORKS…
FROM NOW ON, INDEPENDENT ASSESSMENT WILL BE KNOWN AS INTERNAL ASSESSMENT AND THE 30% SAMPLE OF CANDIDATE PORTFOLIOS IS NO LONGER REQUIRED. CENTRES CAN NOW INTERNALLY MODERATE A SAMPLE OF THE COHORT OF STUDENTS, BASED ON THEIR OWN SAMPLING STRATEGY.
